After Playa Del Carmen, Ben, Megan, Lisa, and I traveled to Tulum. This is the place you've seen in postcards where the pyramids are on the cliffs next to the ocean. Actually, it was much more interesting on the beach, where there are hundreds of topless European women. Also, miles of white sand and crystal clear water. About ten of us from the hostel drank Dos Equis all night on the beach, under the light of a full moon. It was about this time that I realized I made the right decision to travel. Without question, the best part about travelling is meeting so many intersting people. You know when you start talking to someone at a bar and the conversation goes something like this?

-Hey my name is Tony.
-Hi, my name is (insert name of hot chick)
-What do you do?
-I work as a cosmotologist. You?
-I am a engineering student...
-Cool.

While travelling, my conversations go like this:

-Hey, your accent sounds German. Is that right?
-No, I am from Canada, You?
-California, I am bussing my way from Cancun up to there in the next couple of months. What is your itinerary?
-I was just in Mexico, Cuba, and here for a month and then I might go to Argentina.
-Where did you go in Mexico?
-Oh, let me get the book. (She takes out the travel guide sits next to me and shows me all the places she went in Mexico)

I guess the point is that it is very easy to strike up a conversation with people and keep them going for a while in this environment. It is very refreshing to see a stranger and just start talking to them without having them tell you to piss off.

Anyway, Ben and I hauled ass from Tulum all the way Caye Caulker, Belize starting at midnight. That was a BAD CHOICE. I picked up a Mexican friend just before I left and by the time we were in Belize City, I had an insane fever and my digestive system was totally fucked. After sleeping for about 20 hours straight, I awoke in Caye Caulker. A nice little Rasta town with sand streets. I have spent about five days here, basically healing my ailment with antibiotics. I guess things could be worse. I could not be in a tropical paradise. I have gotten "Montezuma's Revenge" at least three times before, but this one was tough. I had to sacrifice a goat to get rid of it. Anyway, the last two days, I have basically gotten my health back to normal, gone on the best scuba dives of my life, and eaten Jerk chicken burgers three times. Belize is fantastic.

Tomorrow, I leave for Flores, Guatemala. You know how we consider Mexico a developing country. Well, Mexico considers Guatemala a developing country. There should be many adventures to come...

Vaya con Dios,
Tom
